TRAINING PROGRAMME



Disaster Risk Reduction: The National Vision for Disaster Management is ‘to build a safe and disaster-resilient India by developing a holistic, proactive, multi-disaster and technology-driven strategy for Disaster Management. This will be achieved through a culture of prevention, mitigation and preparedness to generate a prompt and efficient response at the time of disasters.’ In order to achieve/support the above mentioned vision, Pehla Kadam (PK) has planned to provide disaster management trainings & conduct research studies with key stakeholders upto grass root level i.e. Gram Panchayat through various agencies.

PK initiated numbers of training program in joint collaboration with 09th & 11th Battalion NDRF, DDMA’s, RIRD, Civil Defence, Various NGO’s/INGO’s and DDMA’s.

Village Disaster Management Plan (VDMP) and Village Disaster Management Committee (VDMC) formation training: The training programme is designed to increase awareness and coping capacity on disaster situation at Gram Panchayat/Ward level. It covers differentiation between various approaches to disaster management, identification of specifically vulnerable groups in the community with a specific course component on gender issues in disaster management, hazards, vulnerabilities, capacities, disaster risk, and the tools for risk reduction and management. The training methodology may include presentations and interactive discussions, simulation and role plays, individual exercises, experiential learning, case studies, workshops, field visits, and group and individual critique.

Organizing Mock Drills: Mock Drills check the response of the community as well as Government & other Stakeholders such as NDRF, PAC’s etc in a mock environment. They have to be conducted at regular intervals on the basis of plan prepared by the community. The mock drills will be a form of rehearsal in which the response of the community and the efficacy of the administration will be tested. The mock drill will also test the applicability of the VDMP & DDMP.
